PRCA3330- PROpenMic

Week 9 and 10 T.O.W. is on the website PROpenMic

So what is PRopenMic? This is the definition given by the website:

“PROpenMic? A metaphor. Step up and speak your mind. Our goal is to be the social network for PR students, faculty and practitioners worldwide. We are ad free and nonprofit with an education focus.”

What PROpenMic has to offer for PR students and recent graduates:

The site allows you to create a page or profile (much like facebook and myspace) where you can post information about yourself that you would like others to see. Unlike other social media networking sites, PROpenMic has profile questions like: “If a [Public Relations] student what are your areas of interest in PR study? These types of questions allow other people in the public relations field to better understand what your looking for in a career in PR.

The site also has a page that allows you to search for or post jobs and internships. This page also allows you to post your resume. Along with its own list of public relations employers seeking applicants, it has links to other public relations sites that list jobs and interships like PR Week, PRnewsOnline, and O’Dwyer job listings.

PROpenMic also has a page dedicated to HAPPO (help a pr pro out) designed to help PR job seekers and employers find eachother. If you’re ever on twitter (and if your in class with me, you have been) you can search #happo and find multiple pr job seekers or employers posting job openings.

The website has a forum where you can start discussions and get feedback from other members of PROpenMic. You can ask for help concerning what internship would best suit your career goals, talk about current events in public relations, or ask if anyone has ideas concerning what you should wear to your job interview. The options are endless.

If you want to connect with like minded people who have interest that mirror yours and would like to help you to become better at whichever branch of PR you choose to be a part of, then you should become a member of PROpenMic.

You can friend me on PROpenMic Here. Looking forward to connecting with you!
